Dahil Sa Galing Bata …

Share the lessons learned and impact of Galing Bata on your life.

Because of Galing Bata, I’ve been able to give back and continuously serve the community that helped raise me. Because of Galing Bata, I’ve been able to meet and connect with so many different people. Because of Galing Bata, I’ve learned the importance of community. Because of Galing Bata, I will continue to do the work I do and will strive to be better #slay

Share one example of how you have seen Galing Bata’s “Gabay, Lingap at Bantay” in action. It could be during a time when you were a student, volunteer or staff.

I’ve seen Galing Bata’s “Gabay, Lingap at Bantay” in action in many different occurrences. One particular moment that can pop up in my head is during the pandemic. All of our GB staff did the best we could to provide services virtually, even though we were all in lockdown. We were able to provide programs through Zoom for our students, give homework help, do enrichments, and even take them on “field trips” during the summer! For our families, we started a GB Chikahan for the parents and guardians who just wanted someone to talk to and provided a safe space for everyone. We also provide groceries for our Beacon families. All of these are examples of quality care, guidance, and protection because, despite our circumstances, we still did our best to provide what we could for our students and their families.

What is one wish you have for our students and families we serve?

I wish that they’re all able to find resources that they may need and be supported in these things. I also wish that our students continue to learn, grow, and become the best they can possibly be in the future!

Share with us your favorite self-care or wellness activity that you practice.

I like to listen to music and go on walks along the Great Highway. I also like to shop.

To really get a glimpse of who you are, what Filipino songs are you currently listening to?
