Dahil Sa Galing Bata …

Share the lessons learned and impact of Galing Bata on your life.

Galing Bata has helped me realize a lot of things about myself, both personally and professionally. GB has emphasized the importance of community. Without community, we will not have someone to fall back on when we inevitably fall. I have also learned to really listen to others and learn from their experiences. Lastly, it took a while, but I learned to accept that mistakes are unavoidable.

Share one example of how you have seen Galing Bata’s “Gabay, Lingap at Bantay” in action. It could be during a time when you were a student, volunteer or staff.

When the pandemic hit, we had to step up. In the early days of the pandemic, Kuya Mark and I had to do some volunteer work that would help the students for the rest of the academic year. We packed school supplies and helped distribute them. I also helped out with passing the school lunches for all the Bessie Carmichael students and volunteered at the local Food Bank to served the SOMA community. Galing Bata has also partnered with Bayanihan Equity Center (BEC) to provide food assistance, which is still going on until today.

What is one wish you have for our students and families we serve?

My wish for the students and the families that we serve is to always be kind to themselves and others.

Share us your favorite self-care or wellness activity that you practice.

Every day, I walk my dogs around the nearby park. It helps me clear my mind and helps me make a mental list on what I need to do for the day.

To really get a glimpse of who you are, what Filipino songs are you currently listening to?

I am currently listening to BINI's EP "Taalarawan" (loved this EP <3).
